Having spent time on a few discussion boards since 1996, I've come to realize that most of them had two things in common.....advertising fees and membership fees. I've always seen conflict when a board has "paid" advertisers catering to a "paid" membership. It's nearly impossible to take care of the interests of both parties because there is an inherent conflict of interest. I became extremely frustrated with the whole process and wondered what it would take to have a place dedicated to the Kalashnikov, not the money. I figured the answer would be to start my own discussion board. I started thinking about the pros and cons, and the time required to develop and manage a board.
